Terms & Conditions

  1. Opening Hours: I have read the opening hours and agree to pick up or drop off pets during those hours by booked appointment or special after hours times if arranged with JC's Critter Cave. I understand that on Public Holidays, Sundays & Unavailable Dates as per the website, I cannot book a service or drop off/pick up any boarding pets. If you message after hours we may not respond to you until we are available. 

  2. General: The terms and conditions under which services will be provided to you are included in this service agreement. When you book an appointment, you agree to consent to and abide by this service agreement and when you confirm an appointment by clicking on the agree button you have expressly agreed to the consent requirements for the provision of our services and for the payment of those services including any cancelled services as per this agreement. Please note that this agreement will be binding and continue for all future bookings whether you book online or not. These Terms and conditions are regularly updated and can be changed at any time, when you book you also abide by any changes to the T&Cs during or after your booking. 

  3. Boarding Rates and Charges: Boarding rates and other charges are displayed on our website. The boarding rate is charged per day - this counts the day of arrival and departure regardless of whether you pick up or drop off in the morning or afternoon, it is not charged per night. Changes to prices may occur at anytime, we will advise of any price changes if you have already booked to see if you wish to proceed with new pricing. 

  4. Pick up and drop off: If JC's Critter Cave are required to collect or drop off your pets for boarding it will be within scheduled hours on certain days. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday between 10am and 2:30pm, Friday between 11am and 2.30pm, Saturday as advised. We cannot collect or drop off pets on Public holidays, Sundays, Unavailable dates or after these scheduled hours. Fees will be charged as our Call out rates for pick ups and drop offs each way and added onto your boarding charge. 

  5. Payment: Payment is required in full for the dates booked upon either check-in, half way for long stays or on pick up, whichever JC's Critter Cave agrees to (we accept cash, EFTPOS, Paypal or Bank Transfer). All remaining fees or charges must be paid in full before check out, as pets will not be released with payment outstanding. We also charge 1.95% surcharge on credit card eftpos and Paypal payments, this is to cover fees charged by Square and Paypal. 

  6. Deposits: Deposits/payments are non-refundable. Deposits may be required for peak holiday time bookings and will be a percentage based on how long the say is.

  7. Cancellations: Cancellation of boarding for peak periods needs to be advised 1 week in advance unless for valid reason. Late cancellation may result in a cancellation fee if we cannot fill your booking. If you go to rebook for more boarding after a cancelled booking then we may request a deposit upfront or deny your request. JC's Critter Cave have the right to cancel your boarding or service at any time for whatever reason. If pets are boarding and The Cave has cancelled, you will be required to collect your pet/s in 24 hours otherwise they may be taken to another facility at your own cost. Refunded information below. 

  8. Refunds: If you require a refund or part refund for cancelled boarding, services, wrong charge or faulty goods, refund will be given in the method originally used to pay unless otherwise agreed by JC's Critter Cave. If it is a card/bank/square payment please allow 2 to 7 business days for a refund. Boarding dates already stayed will not be refunded, only from days not stayed. For item refunds item must be returned in same condition as bought. If you would rather have a credit to your account to use later instead of a refund we can do that as well.

  9. Length of stay - JC's Critter Cave no longer offers stays for longer than 3 months unless otherwise agreed. Long stays will be quoted accordingly with an invoice. 

  10. Health: Owner/s warrant that all pets are healthy and free of infectious diseases, PBFD, Coccidiosis, worms, chlamydia, lice, mites, ticks and/or fleas and have been vet checked prior to boarding with JC's Critter Cave within the last 12 months. We may request proof of vet checks at any time before or during boarding. You understand the The Cave is not responsible for underlying health conditions of your pet/s, please advise us of long term conditions such as respiratory infections, satin syndrome etc. We do not offer critical care for pet/s needing the extra attention, we can happily administer oral medication at a weekly fee but do not offer supplement feeding. 

  11. Grooming: Grooming can be done during boarding or as a separate service. If you request during boarding it will be done sometime during their stay - usually on pick up or day before so they are fresh for you. If you would like them groomed prior during their stay you will need to specifically request the day you would like it done, usually we will not groom twice during the stay so will not get one on pick up in addition. Grooming can be a stressful experience for some pets. To help us ensure the safety and welfare of the pet, the owner (or authorised person) must inform us of the following: a heart condition or a pre-existing medical condition, illness or injury or is recovering from a recent surgery. It is not uncommon to find pre-existing conditions such as hot spots, sores and other skin issues once the coat is removed. There is also a chance that your pet’s skin may become irritated from clipping so close due to matting or sensitivity and could be accidentally cut in the process. During nail clips it is not uncommon for the quick to be accidentally cut which may result in some bleeding, if we are unable to stop bleeding we will take them to the vet (see details on vet care below).

  12. Pet Sickness or Accident: Owner/s give full authority to JC's Critter Cave to call a Veterinary surgeon for any treatment, procedure or to gather or exchange information of the pets in the event of sickness, illness, accident, injury or any reason should The Cave deem necessary at the owners expense and agree to pay any veterinary bills and transport costs to and from the vets or as agreed. All expenses must be paid by owner prior to removal of the pet/s or as otherwise agreed. We will not be liable for any vet treatment in or outside of our care. 

  13. Socialization: I authorise and accept that my tame bird/s may, play & socialise with other birds/s of similar breed and/or temperament/nature. Guinea pigs, rodents and other boarding animals will not socialise directly with each other but may be caged next to others of the same species. 

  14. Photography - I authorise JC's Critter Cave to take photos and videos of my pet/s and use them on social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and on the website. 

  15. Photo or Other Requests: We do send photos during your pets stay within reason, usually 1-2 times per week or as you request them (but not after hours). Usually we don't do daily photos however can try our best if this is something you specifically request, but please keep in mind I am only one person and also have young children to care for so things can get forgotten if its not urgent. If you have specific requests, please detail them to us prior to booking your boarding. If we cannot meet your request we may direct you elsewhere. We cannot read minds unfortunately and do lead a busy home life.

  16. Outstanding Payment or animal abandonment: If at any time any payment is outstanding or your animals have not been collected for ten (10) days or more after their booked boarding period without previous notice to change, I authorise the rehoming of the pet/s in a manner determined by JC's Critter Cave in order to recover any outstanding payments or to provide them with a permanent home. 

  17. Liability: All reasonable care and attention is given and pets are accepted at the Owners risk. Upon these terms and conditions and JC's Critter Cave, its staff and agents do not accept liability for loss or damage to any belongings including cages, accessories, bedding etc. and do not accept liability for sickness, illness, accident, escape, injury or passing away of pets for any reason. We will not be liable for any vet related costs due to health issues arising from Pre-existing medical conditions, issues from grooming such as clipper rash, minor nicks and cuts, Exposing pre-existing hot spots and sores. 

  18. Open Communication: We treat all customers with respect and believe in open and honest communication. We ask that you to be considerate when being explained or told things you may not wish to hear or know. Kindness and courtesy is required and expected from all customers and you can expect professionalism and courtesy from myself or staff in return. If you become rude or abrupt at any time we may cancel your boarding or service.

  19. Disputes: The parties agree to raise any grievance or dispute directly with the other party. Where a satisfactory resolution cannot be reached you agree to enter into a private mediation prior to lodging any formal process. The parties agree that they will appoint an agreed mediator to mediate any dispute and where a mediator cannot be agreed then the Government of QLD will appoint a mediator. Any mediation must take place within Brisbane or Gold Coast and be in the English Language.  

  20. Bullying and harassment: At JC's Critter Cave we do not tolerate being bullied or harassed. Boarding & services will be cancelled if any rude, slander, harassing messages or calls are made to any one at JC's Critter Cave. Any discriminating posts on social media, google reviews or otherwise will result in being sent a cease and desist and taking further legal action for defamation. If anyone accesses or comes onto the property and are not authorized or are harassing/threating in anyway, the police will be called.
